Personal Injury Focus
Dr. Sabatasso has worked a mixture of plaintiff as well as defense cases,
mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area, but also throughout the State of California.
His initial work was personal injury in the 1970s and eventually into Worker’s
Compensation and then returning to personal injury. Worker’s Compensation is
most challenging because the opposing side hires private investigators to prove
the alternative view. These cases are also rebutted by psychiatrists and psychologists
of the opposing side. They are also held to a higher standard of proof than tort cases.
Dr. Sabatasso has also worked for law firms varying in size from one to 100; hence, his consulting skills are quite varied and match that of the firm who employes him. Consultative skills also match the economic resources of the firms, ranging from limited to exhaustive.
Criminal Focus
Dr. Sabatasso maintains a private practice in clinical and forensic psychology
that focuses primarily on pre-sentence testimony, psychological work-ups and
presentation to probation, judges and juries. His presentations have included cases
in the Marin County Superior Court, San Francisco Courts, Alameda Courts,
Contra Costa County Courts and Federal Courts. He works regularly with the guidelines
for pre-sentencing evaluations, including factors in mitigation with regard
to the act and factors in aggravation with regard to the commission of the act.
Dr. Sabatasso is also fluent with factors affecting the defendant including
aggravating and mitigating factors.
